I am a 30 year-old female embarking on a career change in aviation. I'm trying to decide between going to a fast-track "school" versus training through a(n?)FBO. I live in Fort Lauderdale, so no shortage of options.
Some considerations:
*my husband and I do not intend to have children
*we can live comfortably on his salary if need be
*we do not carry any debt (except for a mortgage)
*I would be more than happy staying with a regional airline for the entirety of my career
*I'm used to low wages and long hours (I have a teaching background) *this is not to say I support these kinds of working conditions, but to communicate that I understand I won't be pulling in "big bucks"
*I'm not looking for a hobby, I'm looking for a career. We enjoy our "dual income/no kids" lifestyle.
If I was five years younger, I'd probably go the FBO route. However, considering my age, I feel like I need to "get a move on".
Would certainly appreciate any advice/input you all may have. If you were in my position, which path would you choose?
Many thanks!
